In the past I've completed 2 of the customer service jobs. The starting pay is low in comparison to the amount of time needed. And the difficulty in seeing name tags. I have noticed some employees have their name tags turned around where you can not read their name. And some the print is so small I had to get really close to them to read it. Also when the reference is made to find a manager do you mean the store manager or a department manager?

Hi, I was on a job earlier today, and no matter how discrete I tried to be an employee noriced me taking a picture.
This employee proceeded then to harass me, and followed me to confront me. I told him I was taking a picture for a product that my wife was asking for. He then told me to put my phone away and if I was not going to purchase anything to get out of the store. A few moments later the store manager located me, and made me follow her to a office. Unfortunately I had to end up disclosing what I was doing. This manager told me I was not allowed to continue with the audit. On my way out I purchased a bottle of water, and as I was walking towards my vehicle the same employee that followed me and harass me inside the store, followed me now all the way to my vehicle and started taking pictures of it and me. I was not able to take the very last picture of the self check out because they would not allow me to take anymore pictures and they wanted me out of the store immediately. I believe the store manager should have been more accommodating after I disclosed what I was doing in a discreet manner. I just hope to still get paid for this audit, And hope that this employees described on the job with names included get some training on how to treat a customer. I hope agent field get to the bottom of this situation, And contacts Walmart to rectify it so this kind of embarrassing harassment doesn’t happen to someone else.

Thank you for the extra help pages. I've done loads of these and don't need them but they will help those new to this job.

@helpingaviators If you can't take three photos in a Wal-Mart without being taken to the principal's office then you need to find another line of work. You never divulge who you are working for when performing a mystery shop evaluation. You also never admit to performing a mystery shop [associate evaluation]. You have now made it extremely difficult for everyone who works that location from here on out. Do just a little bit of research and learn the basic rules before going out, screwing up and ruining it for the company and other agents.

You should absolutely not get paid for that job. The standard is no pay for getting caught while mystery shopping and getting banned for admitting to it and revealing your company. You should always have your cover story prepared before starting the job. If it was my decision, you'd be out.

I enjoy these jobs but as someone else has said the starting pay is to low, employees have name tags turned over and in my experience doing these jobs the 2 hr time limit is cutting it close. It's not because I am doing anything wrong, it's due to finding an associates and sometimes a manager thus making the 30 min job almost 2 hrs. Thats why I feel starting pay on these jobs should be double starting out. I have done many of these jobs and have yet to do one under 90 mins.

@helpingaviators what you have to do just tell them it's none of your business because they're taking pictures of of you so you have the same right to take as many pictures as you want I take pictures in Walmart all the time in several Walmart Target GameStop Lowe's Home Depot Little Caesars AT&T Smiths I've been doing it over 2 years and I only had one time someone said something to me I asked if I could move a dispenser full of straws so I can get up serial number off a icy machine and she told me I wasn't allowed to touch her equipment I said I have a letter from the company president authorizing me she said since my manager is not here I can't do anything I said okay and just did it
You have to turn the flash off on your camera can't be sitting there for 5 hours trying to get the best photo take one see if it works if not take another one you will get one by the third one one thing I am learning is it's better to take side shots of Isles instead of head on that way they can see where the aisle ends and where the product begins

The best way to do these Walmart customer service jobs is going to the store find something Walmart is doing well number to walk around to any Department go up to an employee notice if they greet you ask if you need help or say have a nice day look at their name tag it's not like you're doing anything wrong or name tag is there for a reason for customers to find out their name do that 4 times find something you think Walmart is not doing well find a store manager store manager to walking around keys and radio and then take a picture of the self-checkout area with a self-checkout customer helper present and that's it you're done you're paid

Another excuse is you can say your price matching you show them the same product from a competitor with a lower price Walmart will match it they still do it they don't advertise it but they do

@helpingaviators, I am quite sure Wal-Mart corporation would be interested in that if everything happened just like you said. But because you were on a job, you cannot take any action except tell Field Agent about it. The only time I would reveal I was a mystery shopper auditor, is if I ever found myself under oath, then I would have to. They may guess and suspect, I would say keep them guessing. If they threatened to call the police, you were doing nothing illegal, while you cannot ever lie to any cop, you can tell them you do not want to answer. Or just stay quiet. The other day, on an assignment, I was standing in the customer service, taking pictures. Then I discovered a woman standing extremely close to me looking in my phone and using her phone to record my phone. You can legally take pictures of anything, anyone you want, as long as it is public. You must always assume you are being recorded too. If I was asked why I was taking photos of products or UPC codes, I would say something like I buy a lot of the product, for myself, my sister's kids and their friends, and I was researching the best products. I always do the same thing I do when I go to any store, and that is I check out the helmets, skating helmets, bicycles and so on and 29 inch 7 speed mountain bicycles. If I am on any shop for any company, I still follow my routine. For Field agent, the timer is going, so I will just briefly walk by my normal areas of the store. The other day, someone else watching me, maybe they saw that woman looking in my phone, but some, I don't know them but apparently knows me, said I would never return a dumbbell weight to any store after buying it. I paid no attention to them, actually my attention was focused on the woman who was recording my phone, and those AARP people all surrounding me at the yogurt. When I moved away from the yogurt section, so did the pile of people from AARP! If I was not on a timer, Field agent don't give much time, I would have stepped back and let them go ahead and stare at the yogurt. They were just blankly staring at the yogurt when I was there. I looked for those products at couple of stores out here, I.e, trail mix, shamrock headbands-hairbands is something I would buy for my hair, my niece collects them too, the Orange spice fig cookies at dollar General, none of these stores where I am have those items. I had several hidden cameras I bought from police shops, and I am sure they improved, but years ago, they only had about 30 minute recording and the battery only lasted about that long, and they were very expensive. If they had phones you can record video, but turn screen to black, or sleep while recording. What about the watches, things like fit bit, it links to your phone. And it would not be obvious you are recording anything.

Taking the first two pictures is pretty easy imo. The last one (self check out pic) I'd the difficult one. One of the best ways I have managed to get this photo is to purchase something small (pack of gum) or if your doing your regular shopping. Then act as though you are scanning your receipts for the Walmart App and then move the receipt and snap the photo. That one seems to work me.

    Jahmezz 3rd,

I did purchase the individual Hawaiian Punch for self checkout. I had two hours to do that, and I thought as I was filling out the form, I was way past my two hour time limit. But I will make sure the pictures are clear, and like with the other shops, I almost always take more photos then I think I will need. I just thought I was running out of time.

    Hi, bikinirollerblader,

This must be a huge Walmart (or not busy at all so no associates). I can start this Customer Service Job and be in and out of the Wal-Mart in 20 minutes or less. I think the longest that it's taken me is 30 minutes because I couldn't find a manager. Sorry, you're experiencing this while doing this job. It's one of my favorite jobs to do because for me it is so laid back.

I do not do my regular shopping while doing this. I go in, grab a basket, throw three things in and start walking around. As soon as I walk in I go straight to the Front End Cashiers section. I find a cashier that is not busy and walk by them. That takes care of 5/6 employees. The moment I find a manager, I found employee 6/6. I only need to find 4 more employees.

I usually go to the Grocery Section, the Electronic Section, Clothes, Outdoor, Keys, and Paint. Those sections almost always have employees floating around. The front end checkouts are where I usually find my manager.

Hope these jobs improve for you!

Lol 1 walmart has caught me and my fiance we do our regular shopping while there. now when we go in the employees or even the greeter they disappear. the job i think that gave us kinda away was the pickup audit. Take a pic of all signage lol the greeter watches all of it. They could make it less obvious if it was 1 picture.

I learned! Have headphones on, the big headphones, listen to your music. You will never be confronted.

I had went to fast food chain, they were supposed to be serving coffee. I took a photo, nothing was said at that time. I had went back, the manager told me something, I told her I was taking a picture of myself in Burger King, not of her manager.

An hour and a half. That is how long it took me to complete this assignment. I walked all over the store. Where is everyone? And I’ve never seen a manager, I’m starting to believe they don’t exists

It is in my opinion that we all as independent or individual contractors are in fact only working for ourselves as consultants and when thinking of it like that the pay rate may be kinda low but if I am in the area or going to such place it is like a bonus, I will try to complete the tasks as explained in the details of the job that I have researched prior to my personal inquiries or tasks that I have on my to do list. They are very specific and you yourself are a specific type of consultant undercover undetectable and most importantly professional so with all this in consideration for the contracts you acquire while on a job in the end game you still are working for yourself. This is just how I look at it from my personal perspective. Good luck everyone.
