You may have noticed that Costco Eye Spy jobs are slightly different from regular Eye Spy jobs. We are happy to explain further!
Regular Eye Spy jobs are seeking to match the traditional 12-digit UPC code that is printed on the product with the UPC number provided by the client. These are a strict match and all of the middle 10 digits must be a match and the product must be found in-store and not online.
However, Costco does not use the traditional 12-digit UPC system, since their products are sold in bulk or in larger sizes, so they have a Costco-issued item number. These are often 6-8 digits in length. There are some that are 3 digits.
The Costco numbers are often one or two digits off and yet, these are usually a match! If the item description matches the product that you have found in-store, and the Costco item number seems to be a close match, it is likely that it will be an approved submission.
For all Eye Spy jobs, the online UPC number is often not the same as the in-store UPC number, so it is always best to wait to reserve these jobs until the product is found in-store.
